Home of the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Werribee is a great destination for families with some great locations for Melbourne families

The Werribee Open Range Zoo has something for everyone. The zoo itself is spectacular, being able to head to the savannah in a  bus is a great way to get up close to the animals. There is Ranger kids, where kids have an opportunity to play dress ups and become vets and village people or rangers. They can examine animals and fly the helicopter. There is also a great outdoor playground if a walk around the zoo to see the lions, hippos and cheetah didn’t burn enough energy.

If you’re looking for somewhere to eat outside of the zoo, then Jackson on K which is only a few minutes away from the zoo is a great little spot with a play area for the kids.

In nearby Wyndham Vale you can find the awesome Presidents Park, a large wodden adventure playground. There were definitely some tantrums when it came time to leave.

And then there is the amazing Village Park in Werribee. It is an awesome water playground, although it is expected to be closed until mid-December to address safety issues.
