National Gallery of Victoria (NGV)

180 St Kilda Rd, Melbourne

National Gallery of Victoria

The NGV is such a great place to visit with kids for a num;ber of reasons, including but not limited to their amazing change rooms and their continuous exhibits that feature in the Childrens Gallery. They also run classes for children and hold special events. You may notice that there are some coins in the fountain. This is where I explained to Mr 3 how to make a wish. The little guy wished for ice cream- one I was more than happy to make come true :) ah to be a child!

Current exhibits that are great for kids are

Open House Tromarama for Kids

22 May 15 - 18 October 15

FREE

And the NGV International with their new exhibit does it again! Another incredible installation to keep the kids completely engaged. We loved exploring the different rooms of the house, each with their own interactive experiences. Mr 3.5 and I loved putting together our Stop Motion Animation video - Mr 2.5 was a little young for it. But he wasn't too young to shake his little booty on the colourful dance floor. Both boys loved recording their voices and hearing it echo through the room. We will definitely be back again soon!

The Island Bird

FREE

Climb through and explore this magnificent, colourful nest, created by Ernesto Neto. We loved climbing through and peeking outside through the net. Located on Level 3 of the Gallery, you can find the lift by the cafe.
