Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) was established in 1906 - and the reason that they continue today is because they are constantly finding new ways to enter the heart of their audience.
Due to their incredible programs and family friendly concert options no one is too young to be introduced to the MSO. Here are some of the incredible experiences you can enjoy with (or without!) the kids in the coming months.

The Wiggles Meet the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Friday 5 June
Featuring a line-up of classical versions of favourites including Rock A Bye Your Bear, Do the Propeller , Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Toot Toot Chugga Chugga Big Red Car and Wags the Dog, He Likes to Tango, these concerts introduce children to the magical world of orchestral music.
Audiences - both kids and parents alike - are encouraged to sing and dance along with Anthony (Blue), Emma (Yellow), Lachy (Purple), Simon (Red) and a full Orchestra at the Melbourne Town Hall.
The Wiggles will of course be bringing along all their good friends, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog and Henry the Octopus to these special shows.
Please note that children aged 12 months and over will require a paid ticket.

Babe: The Twentieth Anniversary Concert (yep, 20 years since that film came out

George Miller's Babe, the 1995 family movie about a pig who wants to be a sheepdog conceived by writer / producer George Miller and director Chris Noonan, is an icon of Australian cinema. To coincide with its twentieth anniversary, the MSO and original soundtrack composer, Nigel Westlake, join forces to present the world premiere of Babe: The Twentieth Anniversary Concert, an exclusive all-ages screening with Westlake conducting the Orchestra in a performance of the film's score adapted especially for the concert hall.

Meet the Orchestra
Tue 2 June
In this fun, interactive and informative concert presented by Paul Rissmann, students will explore Pictures at an Exhibition, the great orchestral score of Mussorgsky (arr. Ravel) alongside music by Beethoven, John Williams and Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles). Teacher resources for the program and preparation packs for an audience participation piece written by Rissmann especially for this concert will be provided.

Classic Kids: Stan and Mabel
Thu 4 June
Paul Rissmann's musical adventure Stan and Mabel is a perfect introduction to classical music for young audiences. Based on the book written and illustrated by Jason Chapman, it tells the story of a music-loving dog and cat whose mission is to perform in the greatest orchestra in the world. This highly interactive concert will captivate young children with its mix of music, illustrated projections and audience participation. Participation packs, containing songs and actions from the story, will be available in advance of the performances.
