Logan’s Beach is one of the most reliable places to see whales in Victoria through winter. HOWEVER, there is no guarantee you will see a whale, even if one had been sighted in recent days. It is called a nursery because some whales will come to the shallow waters of Logan’s Beach to give birth, and then stay around for a little while, but they travel up and down the coast at various times throughout the day so it really is hit and miss.

The best way to keep track of whale sightings is via this link:

We visited Logans Beach 3 times over our 2 trips to Warrnambool and did manage to catch a whale once- he wasn’t very playful, but we did get a wave which was pretty incredible. Mr 3 and Mr 2 however spent just about the entire time running up and down the ramps of the observation deck- because well, that’s what happens when they spend 3 hours in the car ;)
